Latest Magazine Comradeship on show between Nairn and Fraserburgh This feeling of unity was recently experienced by members of Nairn and Fraserburgh branches when they shared a day of comradeship and Remembrance. Garnet Main, the welfare officer of Nairn branch, organised the gathering, which brought together veterans and members. The two branches were honouring the memory of Errol Mackie, a longstanding Fraserburgh member and former chair of the branch. His wife, Wilma Mackie, was presented with a poppy box in memory of her late husband. This special box will be used to hold poppies that are then presented at funerals, allowing mourners to place the familiar emblem of the poppy in the grave. It’s hoped that this will be a similar custom to that of throwing dirt onto a casket, representing the deceased’s return to nature and the circle of life. The visit also provided Dale Woodman, the chair of the Nairn Legion Scotland branch, with the opportunity to present a Nairn Legion pennant to the Fraserburgh branch. This presentation symbolises the strong comradeship between the two branches and their shared commitment to the values of the Royal British Legion Scotland. Manage Cookie Preferences
