Latest Magazine Major birthday celebrated in style Born in March 1924, George was raised in Glasgow and lived in Bridgeton and Ruchazie before moving to Cumbernauld. In 1944, at the age of 20, he enlisted in the RAF. That same year he married his sweetheart Cathy and in 1949 they were blessed with their son Tom. For more than 50 years, George has been a social member of Legion Scotland. Following the sad passing of his wife Cathy, he met his second wife Jean, whom he married in 1999. Attending his 100th birthday party were members of the local branch, Brian Ward of Legion Scotland who presented George with his WW2 Victory coin, and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Anne Walker, who gave George his card from The King and The Queen Consort.
