The Battle of Arras had the highest concentration of Scottish troops fighting in a single battle during World War One.

To mark its centenary, on the 9th April 2017 a service will be held in the Scottish National War Memorial inside Edinburgh Castle at 6.30pm which will be beamed live onto the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade for the general public to view and join in.

Following this, at 7.30pm on the same evening, a Beating Retreat of massed bands will take place on the Castle Esplanade which includes performances by the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland.

Both events are free for the public to attend.
