A charity draw in Coldstream has helped to secure a defibrillator, which is now located right outside the town’s Legion Scotland clubhouse.

An impressive £2,800 was raised in a partnership between Michelle Stuart and James Bell, who run the club, and the Coldstream Heart Rhythm group, which is devoted to improving public access to defibrillators and training members of the public to use them.

Michelle came up with the initial idea for the fundraiser. She approached local businesses, Legion Scotland members and other locals to donate items that could then be parcelled up into hampers. A big prize draw was held to determine the lucky winners.

Michelle explained, “The community support was amazing; local businesses as well. All prizes were donated locally, and we had great support on the day. The defib is in a great position: there’s a large footfall in that area next to the church and church hall.”
