Latest Magazine Legion Scotland in 2023: key events Annual Conference 2023 Our Annual Conference returns in May following a successful event last year – the first since the pandemic began. Two important decisions were made at that Conference, including a change to the voting policy. You can read the full details of that here, as well as in the forthcoming spring edition of Legion Scotland Today, which will be sent out in April. Crucially, members are no longer required to register their intent to vote by March and branches will confirm with all members directly about their desire to vote. The two-day 2023 Annual Conference will take place on 26-27 May at Dewars Centre, Perth. Best Kept War Memorial The Best Kept War Memorial competition returns in 2023. Last year’s winners are still basking in the glory of their success, but whether your branch has ever entered before or not, this could be your year. There are nine categories in total, including Champion of Champions, Large and Small Community with Gardens and also Without Gardens. Entries must be submitted to area secretaries and Head Office by 28 April, with area judging to take place between 12 May and 14 July. A second round of judging, by the national judges, will begin on 21 July and finish on 18 August. Find out about last year’s winners here. Awareness and memorial days Legion Scotland is proud to play a role in several national and international observances.
