Referal options

There are a large number of organisations Legion Scotland work with who provide specialist support to members of the Armed Forces Community and other groups. These websites may be a good starting point for accessing this support or to find other useful services. 

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk - working to meet the needs and aspirations of those across Scotland who are deaf or have hearing loss. 

Age Scotland www.ageuk.org.uk/scotland  - help for older people, their carers and families in Scotland, with information resources and a helpline for information, friendship and advice.

Armed Services Advice Project (ASAP) www.adviceasap.org.uk - providing free, confidential, independent and impartial advice for the Armed Forces Community.

Combat Stress  www.combatstress.org.uk  - the UK’s leading veterans mental health charity, and 24 hour helpline

Defence Medical Welfare Service www.dmws.org.uk - delivering a holistic medical welfare service, providing emotional and practical support for veterans, their families and carers, in health care pathways. 

Erskine www.erskine.org.uk - offers unrivalled nursing, residential, respite and dementia care in our four homes throughout Scotland for UK veterans and their spouses.

Fares4Free www.fares4free.org - coordinates and provides free taxi transport for veterans. 

Military Matters  www.housingoptionsscotland.org.uk/projects…/military-matters  - helps people who are currently serving and veterans access housing.

Poppyscotland  www.poppyscotland.org.uk provides financial support to those who have served in any of the Armed Forces, be it regular or reserve. This includes widows/widowers and dependants.

Scottish War Blinded www.royalblind.org/scottish-war-blinded supports ex-services personnel with a visual impairment that impacts on their independence.

SSAFA www.ssafa.org.uk provides lifelong support to anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force.

Thistle Foundation www.thistle.org.uk/supportforveterans offer lifestyle management programmes to support veterans who need help adjusting to civilian life.

Venture Trust Positive Futures Programme  www.venturetrust.org.uk/programmes/positive-futures-programme/ provides specialist support to military veterans struggling with the transition to civilian life through a programme of personal development.

Veterans Assist Scotland  www.veterans-assist.org a resource website with links to a wide range of information to help veterans and their families access the services they need
