ABERDEEN

 James [Jim] Clark

Jim, who sadly passed away on 19 February 2023, served with the Royal Corps of Transport from September 1971 until his discharge in April 2004 – a service of 33 years. He was chairman of the Aberdeen branch for nine years until ill health led him to resign in 2022. He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues. 

John Fraser

John sadly passed away on 6 June 2023. He served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers from April 1962 until March 1967. He was a loyal member of the Aberdeen branch and will be sadly missed by all his colleagues.

 Kenneth [Kenny] Fulton

Kenny passed away on 17 August 2023. He served with the Royal Artillery and was a loyal member of the Aberdeen branches of the RCT association and Legion Scotland. He will be sadly missed in both. 

Stuart Mitchell

Stuart sadly passed away in April 2023. He was a long-serving member of the Aberdeen branch and will be much missed by all his colleagues. 

James [Jim] Morric

Jim sadly passed away on 7 June 2023. At the end of his service he had obtained the rank of gunner. He was a loyal member of the Banchory branch for many years before transferring to Aberdeen branch in January 2023. Jim will be sadly missed by all his colleagues at both branches. 

Bryan Neave

Bryan sadly passed away on 6 June 2023 after a long illness. He served with the Royal Engineers. He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues.

 James [Jack] Russell

Jack passed away on 24 October 2023, having served in the RAF from June 1953 until May 1956. He was a loyal member of the Aberdeen branch for many years and carried out various roles, including as a member of the committee, sports convenor, vice chairman, chairman, president and latterly honorary president. The branch owes a lot to the dedication of Jack in his various roles and he will be sadly missed. 

William [Bill] Tough

Bill passed away on 25 November 2023. He served in the Royal Navy as a wireless operator from 1943 to 1946. He had a long service as a Legionnaire and will be sadly missed by all his colleagues. 

DALBEATTIE

Alan John Edward Corbally
Dalbeattie branch member Alan John Edward Corbally, born on Guernsey on 9 December 1952, sadly died on 21 September 2023.

Alan joined 12 Squadron Royal Corps of Transport in September 1975 and was posted to Germany with his family where he lived in Liebenau, Clausewitzallee and Munsterlager. He also did several tours of Northern Ireland. He served for 12 years and was discharged in September 1987, at which time he returned to Guernsey. Alan always said how much he enjoyed his time in the Army and kept in touch with quite a few of his colleagues on Facebook via the Royal Corps of Transport group and the Liebenau group.

Alan met Sheilagh in 2008 back in Guernsey. They married in Malta in 2012 and moved up to Kirkgunzeon in November 2017 when they retired, and Alan became a member of the Dalbeattie branch of Legion Scotland.

Alan had two children, Kerry (born in Guernsey) and Marc (born in Germany when Alan was in the Army), five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Many people have expressed their shock and sadness at his passing, and he will be truly missed.

 Thomas [Tam] Porter

Tam, who was born on 13 June 1954, sadly died on 10 September 2023. At the age of 15, he joined the Junior Leaders Regiment and at the age of 18 joined the Royal Corps of Transport where he gave 14 years of service. He served in Germany, Norway, Belize (for two tours) and Northern Ireland (for five tours). 

Tam was well known and liked by so many; he loved to help out with the bingo and also served on the branch committee. 

James [Jim] Wallace

Dalbeattie branch member James Wallace, or Jim as he was known, sadly died on 6 August 2023. Born in 1941, he served in the Territorial Army for 10 years, from 1975 to 1985, and was stationed in Germany and Cyprus. His local detachment was at Nunfield House in Dumfries.

 Jim lived most of his life in Dalbeattie and he was frequently sighted, with his small backpack and walking stick, walking around the area. He was a strong supporter of Dalbeattie branch, and along with his wife Marlene of 37 years, attended many Legion Scotland social events.   

KILMARNOCK

Alex Ritchie
Members of Kilmarnock branch were very saddened to learn that World War Two veteran Alex Ritchie passed away just short of his 101st birthday.
A full parade in memory of Alex was organised in conjunction with the RAF and the family. The branch would like to thank the RAF, RAF Association, and the combined local RBLS members who attended to help us send Alex on his final journey. He will be sorely missed.
