KILWINNING

James Alexander O’Hagan McBreen

Former Private James Alexander O’Hagan McBreen has passed away at the age of 93. Jimmy, as he was known, was proud to have served with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers from November 1939 until December 1951. His service included time in Korea. Sadly, Jimmy lost his much-loved wife Marion in May 2007, but he is survived by four sons and three daughters. He will be missed by all; branch members have sent their condolences to the family.

TAIN

Alasdair Rhind

Alasdair Rhind sadly passed away on 4 April. A well-known member of the Tain community, given his role as councillor, undertaker and participant in several of the town’s organisations, Alasdair was a keen and committed member of Legion Scotland. He would often donate to local campaigns, and led Remembrance services for the Czech airmen who are buried in Tain’s old cemetery. He was a very well-respected man and just under 1,000 people turned out for his funeral. The branch’s deepest condolences go to his wife, Mandy, and family.
