ROSLIN

Alexander (Alex) Barrett

On 15 December 2022, Alex Barrett sadly passed away. Alex was born in Loanhead on 30 March 1948, the youngest of a family of eight. He left school at 15 and started an apprenticeship with the local butcher. Not long after that he met Tricia, his beloved wife of 55 years. Together they went on to raise a family of three: Sandy, Melanie and Jacqueline.

Always a hard worker, Alex was also an enthusiastic fundraiser for the various organisations he helped over the years. These included the Penicuik Gala Committee, Roslin Masonic Lodge and latterly Roslin branch of Legion Scotland.

Alex always had a cheery word for everyone, was always willing to help and often organised various branch and club events. He was a well-liked member of Roslin branch and Alex, Tricia and their family were frequent visitors to the club, where he enjoyed cracking his ‘wonderful’ jokes! Alex will certainly be greatly missed at Roslin branch but even more so by his loving wife and family.
