George Rennie

Ellon branch was saddened to hear of the death in September of former long term secretary, George Rennie. George was born in Aberdeen in 1935 and on leaving school he worked for the Post Office before being called up for national service with the Royal Signals, with postings to Germany and Cyprus.

George finished his service as a corporal and returned to the Post Office before joining the Metropolitan Police. After a spell of service as a police officer George returned to Aberdeenshire where he worked for many years in pharmaceutical sales and dedicated his time and energies to Legion Scotland in Ellon. George is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their family who are in the thoughts of all at Ellon branch.

Alexander B Taylor

Alexander B Taylor, better known as Bryan, a former president of the branch and long-standing member, has passed away at the age of 89. 

Bryan was called up for National Service in the army and served in Malta, Jordan, the Gaza Strip and North Africa with the Royal Artillery. He also worked as a mechanic, an H.M. Customs Officer and served as a special constable with the Northern Constabulary. He has served as a member of the Kirkwall & St Ola Community Council and was also elected as a member of the Orkney Islands Council. 

Bryan joined Legion Scotland in 1963 and has worked continuously in various positions for 59 years. He married his wife Wilma in 1958, who unfortunately pre-deceased Bryan in 2012 after a short illness. Bryan is survived by his sons Colin and Ivan. He was a proud and stalwart Legionnaire, who will be sadly missed by all.
